A former Mississippi teacher was convicted of two counts of sexual battery three years after she was arrested for sexually coercing a 17-year-old male student.

In 2017, Amber Turnage,42, was a former marine biology teacher at Provine High School in Jackson where she preyed on one of her male students. The victim told police that the sexual abuse started when Turnage asked him to meet her after school one day and she gave him gift cards in order to keep the crime a secret. His father explained that he noticed something was off between his son and Turnage so he decided to go through his son’s phone.
During the trial, the man explained that he found sexually explicit videos of Turnage and his son which led him to report the crime to the police. According to Knewz, Turnage claimed the boy was the aggressor in the “relationship” but prosecutors argued that she groomed the boy into believing they were together. Turnage was also married at the time she committed the crime.

The former teacher was sentenced to serve 15-years in prison and she must register as a sex offender.
