A Florida teacher was arrested after she allegedly knocked out a male student’s tooth during class.

Local 10 News reports 64-year-old Cynthia Smith of West Palm Beach was arrested Friday after she allegedly shoved a student against a wall, causing his tooth to come out at the Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School. The probable cause affidavit stated that the 7-year-old boy was dragging his hand across a bulletin board when she walked towards him and pushed his face into a wall on January 30. Investigators say the assault caused the victim to bust his lip along with his tooth falling out.

Other students in the classroom said Smith would often yell at them “for no reason” and treated them poorly. Smith was charged with child abuse without great bodily harm.

Smith’s written statement to police claims that some of the students tried to remove things from the wall while pushing each other in the hallway and said she never touched the boy. The school’s principal Katrina Granger said there are four documented cases about her behavior.
