A South Carolina teacher was arrested after she allegedly mixed her edibles with her students’ candy inside the classroom reward box

Victoria Farish Weiss,27,  was a teacher at the Rocky Creek Elementary School in Lexington County and turned herself in to sheriff’s deputies last Friday for the Sept 23 incident. Weiss brought in a bag of mixed candy on that day to rewards her students for their work in the classroom and allowed two students to pick a treat from the box. One student reportedly grabbed a “Dum Dum” lollipop while another grabbed the THC-infused edibles whose packaging looked like “Sour Patch Kids.”

Weiss said she grabbed the edibles from the student and asked him to pick a different candy. But, there was more than one pack of edibles and the child picked up the same pack of edibles. Later that day, the child asked another teacher during an after-school program to help him open the candy. An assistant principal was notified about the edibles and searched through Weiss’ classroom where he discovered the reward box

Deputies later searched through Weiss’ home where they discovered many packs of “Stoney Patch Kids” edibles. The Lexington School District said in a statement that Weiss is no longer an employee at the school amid her arrest and charge of possession of a schedule I drug

“It is unacceptable for a staff member to potentially threaten the wellbeing of a child. We will continue to work to ensure all of our children have a safe environment to learn and grow. Rocky Creek Elementary has a sterling reputation which will not be tarnished by the actions of one person.”
Weiss was later released on her own recognizance after paying bail.
