People on social media are criticizing Taylor Swift for one of the lyrics in her song titled ‘I Hate It Here.’

On the album ‘The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology’ Swift can be heard singing “My friends used to play a game where / We would pick a decade / We wished we could live in instead of this / I’d say the 1830s but without all the racists / And getting married off for the highest bid.” After fans noticed the line in the song, a big debate online started. One X user shared her thoughts about the lyric and said “Unnecessary to reference and was brought up so frivolously it’s obvious as to why it would be offensive. If you don’t get that it’s because you don’t want to. And that’s your choice but while people are discussing it, you should sit the conversation out. Because our bias is wild.”

Another person added, “Literally nothing fun was happening in 1830 and that’s what I mean when I say that lady be just saying sh*t.” With a third-person saying, “There is no way Taylor Swift said she’d like to live in an era where Chattel Slavery was the law of the land and say ‘but without the racists.’ Like it was some casual microaggressions or something. Is this what we’re doing??”

Taylor Swift’s album has gained a lot of attention. Her fans are currently unfollowing Kim Kardashian on Instagram after Taylor released her song, “thanK you aIMee”, which fans believe is a diss track to the reality tv star.

According to a new report by @Usweekly, Kim Kardashians has lost 120k followers and counting since the song was released. For the last couple of days the Swifties have been swarming Kim’s instagram comments. Kris, you need to help Kim. why you being quiet. Work that magic on this TayTay drama, girl,” wrote one fan in her comment section. “me just waiting for Kris to spin this Taylor beef into a new Skimms collection or something. In the song Taylor refers to “Aimee” as her teenage-style bully. “All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed ‘F—k you, Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’,” she seethes on the track, before giving her nemesis some credit: “But I can’t forget the way you made me heal.”

The feud between Swift and Kardashian dates back more than ten years, starting with a controversial incident involving Kardashian’s former husband, Kanye West, at the MTV VMAs in 2009. West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech to proclaim that Beyoncé deserved the award instead. The feud escalated in 2016 when Swift criticized West for including derogatory lyrics about her in one of his songs. Kardashian then released a recorded phone conversation between the two artists in defense of her husband.
