Tavis Smiley To Pay PBS $2.6M For Sexual Misconduct, Had Multiple Affairs With Subordinates
Tavis Smiley has a pretty penny to pay for his extracurricular activities.
A judge has ordered Smiley to pay $2.6 million to the Public Broadcasting Service for having multiple affairs with his subordinates.

According to Variety, a Washington, D.C., jury ruled that Smiley had breached the morals clause in his contract, with at least six women accusing him of sexual misconduct.
“I’m tired of you telling me no. I’m tired of you rejecting me,” he reportedly told one woman who turned him down. “I’m going to show you what happens to people when they reject me.”
Another claimed that she was terminated after she tried to end a consensual relationship with Smiley.
“I felt like my job was in jeopardy and that if I didn’t do what he wanted sexually, I would lose my job,” she said.
The jury initially awarded PBS $1.5 million, which included costs and revenue for the last two seasons of Smiley’s talk show. However, after the trial, the network said that it should be entitled to additional damages due to the morals clause.
