Naya Rivera’s Dad Slams Ryan Murphy, Claiming ‘Glee’ Director Never Set Up College Fund For Late Star’s Son

On Tuesday, Naya Rivera’s father, George Rivera, posted several tweets suggesting that Murphy did not reach out to the family and has not followed up on his commitment to providing a college fund for Naya’s son Josey.

Naya’s dad, George, went off on Murphy on Twitter, saying … “Everyone needs to know what Ryan Murphy really did … or didn’t do !!! I’m about to blow up this story …. and make sure he’s knows that I know ….” He added, “When you are part of the Hollywood elite, some people treat others as they are ‘less than.’ Vocalize a good game, but it’s as shallow as the sets on stage that they create. Promises made in public, only to fade with time and excuses. Even in an unexplainable tragedy.”When one fan straight up asked, “Did they never open the trust fund for Josey?”, George responded, “Hahaaaaa.”

As we previously reported, when the singer died of a drowning accident back in July, Ryan, along with two other Glee creators, released a joint statement: “Our hearts go out to her family, especially her mom, Yolanda, who was a big part of the Glee family, and her son Josey. The three of us are currently in the process of creating a college fund for the beautiful son Naya loved most of all.” Apparently, they didn’t stick to their word according to the late actress’s dad. Murphy is how speaking out to set the record straight.

He tweeted,

“Myself, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan have committed to create a college fund for Naya Rivera’s child Josey through the Naya Rivera Estate Trust,” he said. “We have been in repeated conversations with the appropriate executors of her estate.”

“Glee” Creators Are Establishing A College Fund For Naya Rivera’s Son

While fans, friends, and close celebrity friends are still mourning the loss of “Glee,” star Naya Rivera, the creators of the hit show are coming together for the late star’s family.

In a statement released Tuesday, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Ian Brennan paid tribute to Rivera, who drowned at Lake Piru in Ventura County, California last week. The statement read: “Naya wasn’t a series regular when we cast her on ‘Glee,’” they wrote. “She didn’t have more than a few lines in the pilot. But it didn’t take more than an episode or two for us to realize that we had lucked into finding one of the most talented, special stars we would ever have the pleasure of working with,” Variety quotes.

While praising her for her musical performances and “humor and humanity” that she brought to her character’s relationship with Heather Morris’ character, Brittany, the creators said “it was one of the first times an openly lesbian, high school relationship was seen on network television and Naya understood what ‘Brittana’ meant to the many young women who were seeing themselves represented on television for the first time,” the three explained. From there, they concluded by revealing that they are currently in the process of creating a college fund for Rivera’s four-year-old son, Josey.

UPDATE: Naya Rivera Confirmed Dead After Her Body Is Found In Lake Piru

Just hours after we reported that Ventura police officials have recovered a body from Lake Piru, where Naya Rivera went missing, it has just been confirmed that the body that was found this morning is in fact the “Glee star.”

During a live press conference, Sheriff Bill Ayub said police are “confident” it is Naya based on the location, physical characteristics and physical condition of the body. He said that there is no evidence of foul play and do not suspect a suicide. An autopsy will be conducted and a positive identification of Rivera’s remains will be made through dental records, Ayub said.

“The news conference has concluded. Sheriff Ayub has confirmed the body recovered at Lake Piru today was Naya Rivera. Our hearts go out to her family, friends and fans during this difficult time. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of her death.” Ventura police said in a tweet.

As we previously reported, on Wednesday, July 8, Rivera went missing while boating with her 4-year-old son on Lake Piru, a reservoir located about 50 miles north of Los Angeles. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said authorities were called to Lake Piru when a child, later identified as Josey Dorsey, was found alone on a boat. According to authorities, Naya and Josey are said to have rented the pontoon boat and went swimming in the lake, however, the actress never returned to the boat. The toddler was wearing a life-vest, while Rivera was not.

A search-and-rescue operation began at the lake that same day and concluded this Monday. Ventura County Sheriff Deputy Chris Dyer stated at the time that “the goal is still to bring Ms. Rivera home to her family so that they can have closure.”

Naya was a beloved actress who started her career at a very young age. Naya’s big break came in 2009 when she landed the role of Santana Lopez on the FOX hit series, “Glee.” She was even part of the “Glee” ensemble nominated for a Grammy for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Naya also appeared in the 2014 horror film “At the Devil’s Door.” She also appeared on Lifetime’s “

” along with many other project.

Naya was just 33-years-old. She will be missed.
