Planned Parenthood Responds After Kanye West Claims The Organization Is Doing The ‘Devil’s Work’
In an explosive new interview with Forbes, Kanye West talks about many things including his latest move to run for President, and how he no longer supports Donald Trump. The rapper and fashion designer also talked about the coronavirus which he contracted in late February and even gave his take on abortion rights.
While speaking on that topic, Ye—- who is anti-abortion—- explained, “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work,” West said referring to allegations that the nation’s largest abortion chain intentionally focuses on offering abortions to women of color.
Following a wave of outrage and criticism, Planned Parenthood has now responded to Kanye in a statement issued to TMZ. Nia Martin-Robinson, the organization’s director of Black leadership and engagement, explained: “Black women are free to make our own decisions about our bodies and pregnancies, and want and deserve to have access to the best medical care available.”
Martin-Robinson adds, “Any insinuation that abortion is Black genocide is offensive and infantilizing. The real threat to Black communities’ safety, health, and lives stems from lack of access to quality, affordable health care, police violence, and the criminalization of reproductive health care by anti-abortion opposition.”
As TMZ notes, his stance comes as a little shock since Kim Kardashian, has publicly supported Planned Parenthood in the past — notably, in 2017.
