Planned Parenthood Responds After Kanye West Claims The Organization Is Doing The ‘Devil’s Work’

In an explosive new interview with Forbes, Kanye West talks about many things including his latest move to run for President, and how he no longer supports Donald Trump. The rapper and fashion designer also talked about the coronavirus which he contracted in late February and even gave his take on abortion rights.

While speaking on that topic, Ye—- who is anti-abortion—- explained, “Planned Parenthoods have been placed inside cities by white supremacists to do the Devil’s work,” West said referring to allegations that the nation’s largest abortion chain intentionally focuses on offering abortions to women of color.

Following a wave of outrage and criticism, Planned Parenthood has now responded to Kanye in a statement issued to TMZ. Nia Martin-Robinson, the organization’s director of Black leadership and engagement, explained: “Black women are free to make our own decisions about our bodies and pregnancies, and want and deserve to have access to the best medical care available.”

Martin-Robinson adds, “Any insinuation that abortion is Black genocide is offensive and infantilizing. The real threat to Black communities’ safety, health, and lives stems from lack of access to quality, affordable health care, police violence, and the criminalization of reproductive health care by anti-abortion opposition.”

As TMZ notes, his stance comes as a little shock since Kim Kardashian, has publicly supported Planned Parenthood in the past — notably, in 2017.

Kanye made his return to Twitter this Friday to announce the big move. He tweeted, “#WESTDAYEVER” along with a picture, giving us a first look at the collaboration. He followed up with another tweet saying, “#YEEZY AND GAP FORM PARTNERSHIP #WESTDAYEVER,” over a picture of the official logo.

As The New York Times notes, the partnership is believed to be a 10-year deal. Gap believes that half way through their 10-year-deal, YEEZY will bring in $1 billion USD in annual sales. It was said that the deal will see YEEZY receive royalties and potential equity based on the collaborations sales performance.

Kanye has talked about wanting to partner with Gap in various interviews over the years. WSJ reports that he actually worked in a Gap store while growing up in Chicago and even rapped about the retailer in his 2004 song “Spaceship.”

“I believe that Yeezy is the McDonald’s and the Apple of apparel,” Mr. West told The Wall Street Journal back in March. “In order to make the Apple of apparel the next Gap, it has to be a new invention. To invent something that’s so good that you don’t even get credit for it because it’s the norm.”

Social media users have been congratulating the fashion and rap star all over Twitter this Friday morning.

Kanye West Says He Will Vote In This Upcoming Election: ‘And We Know Who I’m Voting On’

Back in March, Kanye West admitted in his WSJ Magazine interview that he was not registered to vote and said he does not follow politics. West made those comments while discussing all the backlash he received over the years for supporting President Donald Trump.

In West’s new interview for the May issue of GQ, the “Jesus Is King” rapper says this time around, he actually plans to exercise his right to vote in the upcoming presidential election. He also made it clear that he remains #TeamTrump and will vote for him to stay in office for four more years this November.

“I will not be told who I’m gonna vote on because of my color,” West told the magazine. He went on to say that he would not be swayed to cast his ballot a certain way because of his race and social status. “I’m definitely voting this time. And we know who I’m voting on,” PEOPLE Magazine quotes.

He added,

“Both my parents were freedom fighters, and they used to drink from fountains they were told they couldn’t drink from, and they used to sit in restaurants where they were told they couldn’t eat from,” he added. “They didn’t fight for me to be told by white people which white person I can vote on.”

The 42-year-old remained firm about his position:

“I’m not going to be told by the people around me and the people that have their agenda that my career is going to be over. Because guess what: I’m still here! Jesus Is King was No. 1!” he said.

Before concluding, West noted:

“I was told my career would end if I wasn’t with [Hillary Clinton]. What kind of campaign is that, anyway?” West added to GQ. “That’s like if Obama’s campaign was ‘I’m with black.’ What’s the point of being a celebrity if you can’t have an opinion? Everybody make their own opinion! You know?”

Kanye West Reportedly Pulls Out Of Easter Sunday Service With Joel Osteen

Kanye West Reportedly Pulls Out Of Easter Sunday Service With Joel Osteen

Earlier this week it was reported that rapper Kanye West was slated to join Joel Osteen‘s planned virtual Easter Sunday Service. It was said that Kanye was going to perform from Los Angeles with his choir but according to TMZ, that’s not happening anymore.

The news site reports that Ye has pulled the plug due to safety concerns. Sources with knowledge tell TMZ that Joel and Kanye spoke on Friday trying to work out the final details of Sunday’s virtual spot. While Kanye’s choir was planning to wear masks and maintain appropriate social distancing positions, apparently, Kanye just didn’t feel safe enough for everyone involved. Not only that, but the sources say he couldn’t carry out his vision, so he decided to pull the plug.

Kanye has not publicly confirmed these reports and as of right now it is not clear if he’s planning to hold his own church Sunday for Easter. In the meantime, Joel’s virtual service is expected to move forward with celebrity guests Mariah Carey and Tyler Perry, the Lakewood website has confirmed.

The service will stream on Sunday, April 12 at 8.30 pm CDT on the church’s website and social media channels.

Kanye and Joel have teamed up in the past. Just last year, Kanye and choir visited Joel’s Lakewood Church in Houston and his appearance was one of the most popular Joel has ever had, TMZ notes.

Kanye West Isn’t Registered To Vote But Double Downs On Support Of President Donald Trump

Kanye West Isn’t Registered To Vote But Double Downs On Support Of President Donald Trump

In a new interview with Kanye West for WSJ Magazine’s April issue, the 42-year-old talked more about his support of President Donald Trump, who has been receiving a wave of criticism for the way he’s been handling the coronavirus pandemic. While speaking with the magazine, the rapper looked back on the time he referred to Trump as his “brother” in 2018 while telling his fans on Twitter that “you don’t have to agree with trump but the mob can’t make me not love him.” Ye also took some heat for tweeting out “Trump all day” after his White House visit.

West shared his thoughts on the outrage that followed his comments on Trump and explained his frustrations with his fans and critics for making assumptions about him due to race, education, and his life as a rapper.

“I’m a black guy with a red (MAGA) hat, can you imagine? … It reminded me of how I felt as a black guy before I was famous, when I would walk in a restaurant and people would look at you like you were going to steal something,” he said. “’This is your place, Ye, don’t talk about apparel. This is your place, Ye, you’re black, so you’re a Democrat.’” He went on to say, “Everything is about putting people in their place. Classism, protectionism — not just racism,” he added. “Classism is like living on a bookshelf. The more money you have, the higher you go. And you get to the top and look over and what do you see? Fear.”

Now although he feels strongly about his support for Trump, he did tell the magazine that he was not registered to vote and surprisingly doesn’t follow politics!

Despite that, he’s described as having “unusual access to the Trump administration” and WSJ Magazine proves just that as they noted the time West called Jared Kushner at the White House from his home in Calabasas to discuss freeing rapper A$AP Rocky from custody in Stockholm, Sweden.
