That’s right! The NBA made the big announcement this Wednesday, sharing that the legendary entertainer will do the honors of singing the Star-Spangled Banner at the State Farm Arena on March 7, as part of a tribute to HBCUs [historically black colleges and universities]. The NBA noted that Knight graduated from Shaw University in North Carolina, which is one of the oldest HBCUs in the country.

We already know that fans are in for a great performance since Knight has tons of experience singing the anthem at high-profile events including the 2019 super bowl!

In addition to this, singer Alessia Cara will be performing that night remotely from Toronto. The Clark Atlanta University Philharmonic Society Choir will also perform, “Lift Every Voice and Sing” to honor NAACP leader James Weldon Johnson, who is also an alum of the school. The Grambling State University Tiger Marching Band and Florida A&M University Marching 100, with Spelman College and Morehouse College’s step teams will be involved int the proceedings.

The 70th annual NBA All-Star Game is set for Sunday, March 7 on TNT 5:30 p.m. ET/ 8:30 p.m. ET.
