UPDATE: Mug Shot Of El Chapo’s Wife Released After Drug trafficking Arrest

As we previously reported, the wife of notorious drug kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman was arrested on Monday on international trafficking charges.

Emma Coronel Aispuro, 31, was taken into custody in Virginia on charges of participating in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana for importation into the US. In addition to that, she’s also accused of scheming to help orchestrate her hubby’s elaborate July 11, 2015 escape from Altiplano prison in Mexico.

Now, the feds released her mugshot this Tuesday as she is set to appear before a federal judge in Washington, D.C., at noon. She faces life in prison if convicted on the charges, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice said.

Emma, a dual US-Mexico citizen married Guzman back in 2007, and was a constant fixture at his high-profile Brooklyn trial two years ago. He was sentenced to life in prison in July 2019.
