While appearing on Chicago’s 107.5 WGCI’s, Irv Gotti claimed that DMX died after he overdosed on a mixture of crack cocaine and the deadly opioid Fentanyl. In the shocking interview, Irv Gotti said he got the call in the hours following the rapper’s overdose, revealing, “They said it was a bad dose of crack and they said some drug Fentanyl was mixed in with the crack and that’s what made him overdose.”

The Murda ink founder added, “Then when he got to the hospital, he got diagnosed with COVID and he couldn’t breathe — you know that COVID messes with your respiratory system — so that’s why he had to get hooked up to the ventilator.” Fans and close celebrity friends were pretty upset about Irv sharing these details and it looks like some are still mad.

50 Cent took to Instagram on Thursday to share his thoughts on Irv’s viral interview. He said over a video/ picture of him, “This guy is a idiot, 👀did he just say DMX died from smoking crack and fentanyl! 🤷🏽‍♂️why would he say that?” Swizz Beatz followed up in his comment section and said, “Bozo moves can’t lie.” He also added the clown emoji. Rapper Jadakiss also commented, “WING.”

As we previously reported, DMX died earlier this month after suffering a heart attack. The rapper and actor, born Earl Simmons, passed away at White Plains Hospital in New York after being placed on life support for several days. X, who battled with drug addiction in the past was just 50-years-old.

DMX To Be Honored In His Hometown; Yonkers, NY

Yonkers wants to make sure DMX’s legacy lives on in the city, so they’re planning to honor the rap icon with a lasting gesture, according to TMZ. Mayor Spanos told the news site that it might mean a statue like another famous Yonkers native, Ella Fitzgerald, or a street mural or street naming. However, the Mayor says it will ultimately depend on what X’s family wants to do.

As we previously reported, DMX died Friday after he was hospitalized in a coma for a week following an alleged drug overdose. A statement said that he “passed away at 50-year-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side.”

In addition to honoring the hip-hop star in his hometown, a source told TMZ that X’s family is planning both a private and public memorial, and a meeting Monday to work to finalize possible plans. Mayor Mike Spano who is focused on showing as much love to DMX and his family said he’s in favor of them holding the memorial service at Yonkers Raceway, the city’s largest outdoor venue, and wants to help make it happen. He believes it would help ease the burden on his family and is leaving the door wide open for them to use the grounds of the horse racing facility, if they want to do so.

No official plans have been made just yet. Until then, let’s continue to send prayers to DMX’s family and close friends during this difficult time.

DMX gas gone through a lot during his life but he’s always been still determined to keep himself on the right track. While speaking about his rocky past during his appearance on the Ruff Ryders Chronicles documentary, the rapper opened up about a few things including having various personalities.

During the segment, DMX was if there were parts of himself that helped him cope through all his trauma like being abused as a child, being kicked out of school, and struggling with addiction and incarceration. DMX quickly answered “yes.” He added, “They’re different things… There’s a few things, a few people in me and they get me through life.” The rapper was then asked what he would want the public to know about those different parts of himself. He replied, “I wouldn’t want anyone to know anything.” He went on to say, “I don’t talk about them,” added DMX. “You already got me talking about them. Nope.”

However, he did go on to say, “They’re there to get me through life,” DMX said before tearing up. “I don’t know if I made ’em or if God gave ’em to me, or maybe circumstances and situations did.”
