Oop! Taco Bell has recently been hit with a $5 million class action lawsuit after a man claimed that the fast food business engaged in “unfair and deceptive” practices, alleging that they skimped on fillings in their Mexican Pizzas and wraps he’s ordered.

The plaintiff, identified as Frank Siragusa, claimed when he visited a Taco Bell in New York City last year, he purchased a Mexican Pizza. However, when he began to unwrap his food, he noticed that the restaurant was skimping on some ingredients originally advertised on TV and in-store.
Siragusa argued that aside from being misled by “false advertisements,” showing the amount of beef and ingredients in the pizza, he was also displeased with how the restaurant promoted the CrunchWrap Supreme, Grande Crunchwrap, Vegan Crunchwrap, and Veggie Mexican Pizza items. He alleged that those menu items also did not make it to him as advertised and had been skimped on fillings.

Additionally, in Siragusa’s complaint, there are side-by-side pictures comparing all of the items in question; showing the advertised version of the menu item versus what he ordered and was served. Again, he alleged that Taco Bell is “falsely advertising the amount of ingredients” in all items in question.
To be specific, the complainant said Taco Bell “materially overstates” the amount of beef and/or other ingredients in their advertisements “by at least double the amount” served to patrons.

Furthermore, Siragusa’s class action lawsuit, which was filed in the Eastern District of New York, covers all other individuals who purchased the same items from the same Taco Bell in NYC during the period of July 21, 2020 through the date of the final deposition.
Taking up for himself and all other patrons of the NYC Taco Bell, and beyond, Siragusa and his lawsuit point out how concerning this situation is to consumers who come from low-income households. He claimed that inflation and meat prices are “very high” and some people are seriously struggling financially, and Taco Bell is only making matters more difficult as they have skimped on fillings.
Taco Bell and its representatives have not yet made any public comments or statements about the $5 million complaint.
