A Taco Bell employee has been arrested after police say he fired shots at three women following a dispute over free soda in West Palm Beach.

According to the New York Post, 20-year-old D’Mari Jy’Quan Patterson was taken into custody Monday after authorities learned he allegedly discharged a firearm while on the job. Police say the women entered the restaurant and each requested a cup of water. Investigators allege that one of the women then approached the soda fountain and filled her cup with a soft drink instead.

Gunfire Caught on Video

Authorities say Patterson began yelling at the women. The confrontation was reportedly recorded by other customers inside the restaurant. In one of the videos, a firearm can allegedly be heard seconds before the first shot was fired.

Investigators state that one woman was struck by a bullet and fell to the ground. A second woman sustained a graze wound. The third woman reportedly fled the scene.

Police allege Patterson chased after the third woman and fired another shot in her direction. That round reportedly struck the restaurant’s window.

Injuries and Charges

The two injured women were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities say the third woman was not physically injured.

Patterson has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a firearm. Officials have not released additional details about whether the employee had authorization to possess the firearm while working. The investigation remains ongoing.
