Suspect Who Fatally Shot Atlanta Man For Entering The Wrong Car At Gas Station Is Released From Jail
It is reported that 26-year-old Travon Dunnaville was fatally shot by another man named Dericole Daniels after he accidentally entered Daniels’ car at a Shell Gas Station on Old National Highway in Atlanta.
Since the incident, Daniels — who was charged with misdemeanor voluntary manslaughter — has recently been released from jail after paying a $150,000 bond. It is reported that this occurred on Monday (April 17).
Speaking on Daniels’ recent release from jail, Dunnaville’s mother, who has chosen to remain nameless, said, “I don’t think it’s fair.” She also said since the shooting, months ago, things are still difficult for her to carry on. She said, “I have not been able to sleep. I have not.”
Recalling the day on which she lost her son, Dunnaville’s mother said his pregnant fiancé was waiting for him in their car, as he was inside of the gas station store. While he was walking out, back to his car, Dunnaville had his head down as he was texting on his phone.

Because he was preoccupied, Dunnaville veered to the left, instead of towards the right, where his fiancé was waiting in their car. He instead walks towards Daniels car and proceeded to open the door. Upon doing so, Dunnaville was shot by Daniels four times.
Surveillance footage pulled from the gas station shows Dunnaville doing the above. It also captures the moment he was shot, and the moment his pregnant fiancé comes running over from their car to tell Daniels to stop shooting.

Dunnaville’s mother recalls the shooting and said, “Don’t shoot him no more. He was at the wrong car. He saw my son, coming towards him. He was parked like this. So you see him coming. He could have locked his doors, or he could have said may I help you or something? He did nothing but shoot. Just because people make mistakes and open up somebody’s door, they don’t have to shoot them.”
Speaking on the incident, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office stated, “Our office has an ongoing investigation regarding the matter. If a decision is made to seek a felony indictment, this office will prosecute it in Superior Court. If the decision is made to leave it as a misdemeanor as the police cited it, it will be prosecuted in state court by the Solicitor’s Office.”
