Supreme Court Won’t Review Decision That Freed Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby will remain a free man. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it would not review Bill Cosby’s sexual assault case, ending a two-decade legal drama that sent him to the slammer for several years.

As it was previously reported, Cosby was convicted of aggravated indecent assault back in 2018 for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand in his Pennsylvania home in 2004. He was sentenced to three to 10 years in the slammer. The former actor was released from prison in June after the state’s Supreme Court overturned his sexual assault conviction because his due process rights had been violated.

Today, Supreme Court justices ruled not to reopen it and they gave no comment… however, a Cosby spokesperson expressed “sincere gratitude to the justices” for the ruling and said he was the victim of “a reprehensible bait and switch” by the prosecutor and trial judge in the case. “This is truly a victory for Mr. Cosby, but it shows that cheating will never get you far in life, and the corruption that lies within Montgomery County District’s Attorney Office has been brought to the center stage of the world,” spokesperson Andrew Wyatt said.

The Supreme Court did not say anything in rejecting the case. However, Cosby’s case was included in a long list of cases the court said Monday it would not hear. It was also noted that his accuser Andrea Constand planned to issue a statement later in the day.
