Supreme Court Upholds Trump Administration Rule Allowing Employers To Opt Out Of Birth Control Coverage
In a 7 to 2 ruling on Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court is now upholding the Trump administration rule allowing employers to opt out of offering birth control coverage for its employees — giving them the opportunity to claim a religious or moral objection.
While Donald Trump has been steadfast in eradicating Obamacare, aka the Affordable Care Act, one of his regulations is now being approved by the justices, which will cause about 70,000 to 126,000 women to lose contraceptive coverage from their employers. The National Women’s Law Center added that 61 million women get birth control coverage through Obamacare.

The ruling arrives the same day the justices backed religious schools in another case brought on by religious teachers who sued for employment discrimination. In a 7-2 ruling, the justices reaffirmed that religious institutions and schools have the First Amendment right to hire as they wish.
