Subway Defends Bootleg Tuna, “It’s Real”
Subway is fighting claims that their Tuna is fake by deploying a series of marketing schemes.
“Keep fishing folks, we’ll keep serving 100% wild-caught tuna,” Subway tweeted.
This comes after a lawsuit was filed claiming that the sandwich chain was falsely advertising its Tuna subs which are made with “anything but Tuna.”
After multiple lab results from samples across California, the plaintiffs’ lawyer, Shalini Dogra, told The Washington Postthat “We found that the ingredients were not tuna and not fish.”
Dhanowa and Amin also claim that Subway “is saving substantial sums of money in manufacturing the products because the fabricated ingredient they use in the place of tuna costs less money.”

Subway then began offering discounts of 15% off a Tuna footlong with the promo code “ITSREAL,” and “100% tuna mixed with mayo,” while telling people to “Keep fishing folks, we’ll keep serving 100% wild-caught tuna.”
Since the allegations came to light, Subway has vehemently denied using fake Tuna.
”Subway will vigorously defend itself against these and any other baseless efforts to mischaracterize and tarnish the high-quality products that Subway and its franchisees provide to their customers, in California and around the world, and intends to fight these claims through all available avenues if they are not immediately dismissed,” a statement read.
