A new study revealed last week that Gen Z is booking more plastic surgery than previous generation as plastic surgeons saw an increase in clients under the age of 30.

American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 75 percent of plastic surgeons have seen an increase in clients under the age of 30, according to the New York Post. Injections, buccal fat (cheek fat) removal, and blepharoplasty are among the procedures requested by clients. A blepharoplasty is the surgical removal of excess skin above the eyelids to “reduce that hooded appearance that can occur naturally with age.”

“In reality, though, Gen Zs influence in the aesthetic marketplace is not yet generating leaps in facial plastic surgery procedure numbers (and that’s probably a good thing). Consistent with 2021, close to 75 percent of facial plastic surgeons report increases in the number of patients under 30 years old requesting cosmetic surgery or injectables, representing a consistently higher plateau over the five previous years.“

Additionally, Gen Z is more reportedly more transparent about their surgeries as social media platforms such as TikTok allow them to have a forum to speak about their experiences. Journalist Andrea Mew also broke down the costs of preventative procedure such as Botox in a Twitter feed and said the popular injectable is known to wear off quickly on younger skin.

She also addressed the issues of breast implant illness as the surgery can cause possible complications in the future.

“ On the flip side, if your silicone-filled implant ruptures, you won’t notice right away because silicone gel is thick and it doesn’t get absorbed into the body. Furthermore, it still can cause inflammatory reactions without any ruptures as the 40+ toxic chemicals and heavy metals used to make implants can leech into your body.”

It was recently revealed by Instagram model Mary Magdalene that she regretted going through extreme plastic surgery to fit the bimbo aesthetic after one of her implants ruptured.

“l am burnt the f**k out from this lifestyle I wish I never did it not worth all the time money stress my body can’t recover the same anymore.

I just want to live a normal life now and I can’t and lam not asking for pity I did this all myself willingly just sharing this for people who want to go the extreme surgery look because you will deal with a lot of complications eventually… it’s not worth it!!!”

Nevertheless, plastic surgery experts say it is important to research any procedure and a board-certified plastic surgeon to avoid any issues or future complications.
