According to Quartz, the 2024 study by Greenhouse revealed that many industries are prone to ghost jobs. Construction was at the top of the list at 34%, while the arts landed second at 31% and legal jobs at third with 29%. The study also revealed that some businesses rely on ghost posting to project growth despite not actively expanding and keeping their options open for prospective candidates.
A different study revealed that some hiring managers confessed that their companies had listed fake job postings, ranging from as little to one to three postings to 75 or more.
