Allison Holker Boss — the wife of Stephen “tWitch” Boss is breaking her silence after the shocking death of the popular ‘Ellen’ dj.

Allison recently spoke with The Today Show and explained how she was surprised by the shocking news just like everyone else in the world. “I still feel like the rest of the world where I’m still shocked,” Holker told the host Hoda Kotb. “No one’s ready for that moment and there’s no one that saw this coming. She continued, “He wanted to be the strong one for everyone and I think that was a little scary for him to think that he might need to ask for help. He was so much love and light. He really wanted to be everyone’s Superman, he said that a lot.” The couple shares three children together and Allison opened up about how she had to explain to her children that their father was gone. “There’s been some really hard conversations,” she explained. “To us, Daddy’s in the stars. So we can go outside and talk to him whenever we want … They just ask, ‘When is Daddy coming back?’ and that’s a really hard one.”

Holker Boss added, “And then it’ll be a couple weeks later, ‘But does he come back when he’s older? Like, when Daddy’s older he’ll come back?’ But they are still children and still obviously want him here.”

As we previously reported, Allison Holker Boss, confirmed his passing in a statement issued to PEOPLE.

“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us,” Allison began. “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.”

She closed her statement with a message to her husband. “Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”
