Family, friends, fans, and celebrities are still mourning the loss of beloved entertainer Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss. As we previously reported, the dancer and The Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ/producer died by suicide this week at the age of 40.

The official cause of death was ruled a suicide by the medical examiner who closed the case. While people are still shocked by the news, they are even more surprised by the unnecessary theories about his death that have been spreading online. The social media chatter came following a video posted by actor Columbus Short also who shared his own theory that tWtich may have had money issues. However, a source told TMZ that Stephen knew Columbus through the dance world… and their personal interactions were always directly associated with working environments. To add to that, sources with direct knowledge tell the news site that the final claims are completely false — Stephen was not experiencing any sort of financial hardship in the time leading up to his suicide.

According to the latest update, law enforcement sources tell TMZ that they found a note that was left behind in the motel room. The note alluded to challenges he’s faced in the past but it was unclear exactly what he was referring to in the note, the news site reports.

More On His Passing

His wife, Allison Holker, rushed to the LAPD location saying tWitch left home without notice and wasn’t answering her calls. Investigators determined tWitch took an Uber from his home to the motel less than a mile from his home Monday morning, and put his phone on airplane mode so no one could reach or track him.

A motel staffer discovered the popular DJ and TV host Tuesday inside his room when he did not check out on time. He sadly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Addressing his death in a statement, Allison said, “Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him.”

“She continued, “He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans. To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory.”
