Looks like Stephen A. Smith doesn’t want to see president Joe Biden serving another term. While speaking on the viral clip of Biden falling over the weekend, the ESPN host detailed why he feels like Biden shouldn’t be re-elected.
“It’s just my personal opinion, that’s all it is. Take it for what it’s worth. Somebody’s gotta say it, so I’m going to say it. We need a new president in 2024. We need a new president,” Smith said. “Let me be very, very clear about where I’m going with this. That could happen to anybody. It’s not a big deal. I’ve tripped and busted my behind on several occasions, sometimes running up the stairs. It happens. It’s not the end of the world. It’s not evidence that he’s just not all there. But he is 80. He’ll be 81 by the end of his term, approaching 82.”
ESPN sports pundit Stephen A. Smith says Joe Biden is too old to be President:
STEPHEN A. SMITH: “I’ll say it…and I know this will make some people mad…but I just think someone 80+ years old is too old to be President.
There has to be better options” pic.twitter.com/HeYFMZd7fs

Smith also revealed that he voted for Biden and “not calling for him to be removed from office,” but rather seeking a new candidate for the Democrats. “Without trying to engage in any kind of ageism at all, because I don’t believe in it. There does come a point in time where there are certain jobs you don’t need. It’s not that you don’t need to be working, it’s not that you don’t need to be living your life, it’s not that you don’t need to be living a very vibrant lifestyle or anything like that, but there are responsibilities that are far, far, far more extensive than a typical 9 to 5 that somebody in their 80s may not need to be doing. I think the presidency is one of em.”
He continued: “But here’s one of my biggest reasons – and again, forget Biden for a second because this is no disrespect to him. What does it say about our country where we’re looking at an 80-year-old, who will be 82 if he wins the presidency again in 2024? What does it say about our country if that’s what we’re depending on?”
This conversation Smith had over the weekend was in reference to Joe Biden taking a little tumble during the U.S. Air Force Academy graduation ceremony in Colorado. He claimed he “got sandbagged.”
Even former President Donald Trump reacted to the news of Biden falling. Trump, who will also be in his 80s if elected, was at a rally in Iowa, and the folks in the crowd updated him about the fall.
Trump said, “Well I hope he wasn’t hurt. The whole thing is crazy. You gotta be careful about that because you don’t want that. Even if you have to tiptoe down a ramp.” Trump was referring to his own experience he had at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point back in 2020. The whole crowd roared in laughter after his comments.
