Stephen A. Smith recently gave his thoughts on a trending topic that is currently going on in hip hop. While making an appearance on Drink Champs, the sports analyst explained why he would rather choose Drake over Kendrick Lamar.
“I’m going to go with Drake because even though everybody knows Kendrick Lamar and how gifted he is you got too many people periodically trying to come at Drake and he’s always standing. Like mainstream, globally he’s one of those dudes. It could be the look, it could be how he communicates. It could be his flavor it could be anything, but Drake damn near seems impenetrable and what I take from Drake is, I don’t hear too many people coming at Kendrick Lamar but everybody is always trying to come at Drake and obviously I can relate to that.”
We’re not sure if this episode was filmed before or after Kendrick Lamar dissed Drake and J.Cole but as we previously reported, the Big3 has been a trending topic over the last couple of days after Cole dissed Kendrick Lamar in a new song Friday and then apologized to him by Sunday during the Dreamville festival.
Cole took the stage at Dreamville Festival on Sunday, two days after releasing his new album “Might Delete Later,” which included a song titled “7 minute drill” where he took some shots at Kendrick Lamar. “I’m so proud of (‘Might Delete Later’), except for one part,” he said. “It’s one part of that sh*t that makes me feel like, man that’s the lamest sh*t I did in my f**king life, right?” He added: “I damn near had a relapse … I ain’t gonna lie to y’all. The past two days have felt terrible. It let me know how good I’ve been sleeping for the past 10 years.”
After videos of Cole’s apology surfaced all over the internet some rap fans began to have mixed feelings about the apology because people wanted to see a friendly competition so we could end this debate for once and for all.
Things first caught the worlds attention when Future and Metro Boomin dropped their project together and there was a song titled “Like That” on the album, which featured Kendrick Lamar and he dissed Drake and J Cole. After Kendrick’s verse went viral all over the internet, fans have been anticipating if Drake or J. Cole would respond. Well, it didn’t take Cole long to respond but he admitted that his diss track didn’t sit right with his spirit.
On the other hand we haven’t heard much from Drake but he has been sharing some interesting captions to his Instagram after the rap beef began. “I got my head up high, my back straight, I’m ten f**kin’ toes down… and I know no matter what there’s not another ni**a on this Earth that could ever f*ck with me,” Drake said during one of his recent shows.
