EPSN personality Stephen A. Smith is backtracking as he apologizes for asking if Kim Kardashian is a “prostitute” and if her mother, Kris Jenner, is a “pimp.”

While Smith is no stranger to being in the spotlight and having controversial comments, he is now facing another hurdle after speaking his mind, a little too freely. Before his since-deleted tweet about the Kardashian-Jenner duo went viral, Smith first went on his self-titled show and mentioned the duo.

On the latest episode of ‘The Stephen A. Smith Show,’ where the ESPN personality discusses several topics unrelated to sports, he decided to bring up a nearly year-old clip from back in September 2022, where controversial political commentator Candace Owens broke down the KarJenner drama happening at the time with Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend, singer Ray J.

Owens had branded Jenner a “pimp” and her daughter a “prostitute,” while responding to allegations that Jenner had brokered the infamous sex tape deal between her daughter and the “One Wish” singer.

Commentating on the old clip of Owens, Smith again broke down the situation between Ray J and the KarJenners, and asked if Owens was wrong for calling Jenner a “pimp” — again, this after she allegedly watched three versions of her daughter and then-boyfriend having sex, and picking the final movie to disperse to the public.

Smith asked, “Assuming the allegation is true, is Candace Owens wrong?”

He added, “I’m not gonna call Kim Kardashian a prostitute. That’s very disrespectful. I’m not gonna do that. If those allegations are true, I don’t think it’s off-kilter to call a mom a pimp. That is the definition of pimping, if that happened. But, Kim was young, beautiful, listening to her parents’ influence, allegedly. If your mother, who obviously has a profound influence on you, coaches you into doing such a thing, I think those things should be taken into consideration, before you label her with such a derogatory term. The mom is an adult, making a business decision; and if that business decision supersedes the integrity and decency of her own child, that is the epitome of a pimp.”

Despite the topic being old news, Smith went ahead and tried to promote his latest episode and tweeted about social media superstar Kim Kardashian and her mogul momager Kris Jenner. In the now-deleted post, Smith rhetorically asked, “Is Kim Kardashian a ‘prostitute?’ Is Kris Jenner a ‘pimp?’

He then followed up the tweet with another one, trying to clarify things, mentioning Candace Owens’ commentary. Needless to say, Smith was dragged on social media, and now he’s apologizing for the mishap.

To a user who wrote, “Not cool. She has kids. Should not be the title or topic,” Smith said, “Clerical error bro. You are absolutely right. That is being corrected now as we speak. And for the record, I don’t think of Kim Kardashian that way nor would I ever speak of her or any woman that way, which I’ve stated. That’s for checking that issue.”
