On Monday he took to Twitter to sound off on the whole kneeling controversy. In a very blunt tweet, Tuitt said: “I’m not kneeling for the flag and screw anybody who have a problem with that,” Tuitt wrote, adding that “My grandmother was a immigrant from the Carribean and … worked her ass off to bring 20 people over the right way. She had no money and educated herself to be a nurse. She living good now.”

Fans were quick to call him out on his tweet. One twitter user said; “kneeling has nothing to do with that and everything to do with the fight against police brutality. Of course, you can choose to do what you’d like but fighting for this cause and kneeling in protest isn’t disrespectful to your grandmother or the military by any means.” Another said, “My grandmother did the same thing and she would kneel. One has absolutely nothing to do with the other! PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF!!”
Meanwhile, head coach of the Steelers, said that he’d support players that protest before games in the upcoming season. He has encouraged his team to incite change with their actions and words — as long as it’s in a professional manner, per ClutchPoints.
The 2020 NFL season is scheduled to kick off on Sept. 10, when the Houston Texans visit the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
