St. Louis Officer Dies Days After He Was Charged With Abusing Female Cop

A police officer has died days after he was arrested and charged for the assault of a female officer while on duty.

Before his death,  Rashard Lovelace,31, faced four counts of fourth-degree domestic assault while he was dating one of his colleagues. The alleged abuse occurred in several cities between July and August 2020 as told by other police officers who were present at the time. Lovelace punched the woman twice in the chest and placed his hand around her neck. Lovelace was released on bond on his own recognizance by a judge and he was ordered by a judge to stay away from the victim. He remained employed with the department and joined the force in November 2018.

On Saturday, Lovelace was reported dead by Sgt. Keith Barrett but he didn’t disclose any further details.

A neighbor said Lovelace was a father of three children and said they were shocked by the news of his death.

“It’s sad, it’s very sad. They have three kids and those kids have to grow up without a father, a brand new baby that’s not right at all. I pray for them, I pray for the family.”
