Social Media Slams James Corden Golden Globe Nomination For ‘Stereotypical’ & ‘Offensive’ Gay Role

Social media is dragging the hell out of straight actor James Corden and his Golden Globe nomination for his “stereotypical” and “offensive” gay role in the Netflix film ‘The Prom.’

As the 2021 nods have recently been announced, they’re being met with some serious backlash online — specifically concerning Mr. Corden and him being recognized for his controversial portrayal of a gay man. Even prior to his nod, Corden’s performance was heavily criticized by those in the LGBTQ+ community last year.

Previously, critics had taken to social media to call out Corden’s “cartoonishly effeminate mannerisms,” “gay accent” and “homophobic portrayal,” They even called him out for accepting the role as a straight man to begin with; further wondering why a gay actor wasn’t casted instead. Now, critics are back online demanding answers from the Golden Globes executives on how Corden’s controversial performance led him to a nomination. #Socialites, thoughts?
