If you’re wondering why #RIPMrPeanut is trending on Twitter it’s because the 104-year-old “spokesnut” for Planters has died.

The passing of cartoon character was made public through his official Twitter account, which now says it is “The official Twitter of the Estate of Mr. Peanut (1916-2020) #RIPeanut.” The tweet said,
“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm that Mr. Peanut has died at 104. In the ultimate selfless act, he sacrificed himself to save his friends when they needed him most. Please pay your respects with #RIPeanut”
Apparently, Mr. Peanut was killed while saving Wesley Snipes and Matt Walsh after the Nutmobile went off a cliff. Social media users took to Twitter to react to the death of Mr. Peanut which is all part of the Planters Super Bowl ad campaign.
