Snoop Dogg announced that his mother, Beverly Tate, has passed away over the weekend.

The rapper confirmed the news in an Instagram post on Sunday where he wrote “Thank u god for giving me an angel 🕊 for a mother 💖🙏🏽🌹💝 TWMA.” According to TMZ, a cause of death has yet to be revealed and Snoop Dogg did not disclose any further information.
Earlier this year, Beverly Tate was hospitalized and Snoop Dogg asked his fans and friends to send prayers for the family.

Snoop’s father, Vernell, also asked family and friends to send their prayers to confirm the news as well. The rapper has a close relationship with his mother and often referenced her in many songs and also credited his love of God due to his upbringing in church along with his two brothers. Reportedly, he credited her for convincing him to apologize to Gayle King after her comments about Kobe Bryant last year.
