Snoop Dogg and Master P have filed a lawsuit against Walmart after accusing the company of undermining their cereal products. Broadus Foods was launched in 2022 and produces a range of breakfast products, including cereals, pancake mixes, and maple syrup.

The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday against Walmart and Post Consumer Brand for purportedly concealing Snoop Cereal stocks and misleadingly indicating that they were unavailable. Attorney Benjamin Crump said the company’s alleged actions were a “blatant disregard” of a black-owned business, but Walmart claims that “many factors affect the sales of any given product.” Post said they were “equally disappointed that consumer demand did not meet expectations” in a similar statement, according to the BBC.

Snoop and Master P said in their complaint that Post allegedly tried to “choke Broadus Foods out of the market” because they refused to sell their company to the manufacturer. However, they did agree to a partnership where Post would produce and distribute the breakfast products to major retailers.

Master P has taken to Instagram to share videos that seem to support these claims, showing instances where Walmart employees, upon inquiry, find the cereal listed as out of stock in their systems, only later to discover shipments of the product untouched in storerooms.

Despite the allegations, Post Consumer Brands has stated its initial enthusiasm for the partnership with Broadus Foods and mentioned making “substantial investments” in the venture. Walmart has refrained from extensive comments but has indicated its intention to “respond as appropriate with the court” upon reviewing the complete complaint. This legal battle underscores the challenges faced by new entrants in the competitive food industry, especially when dealing with large corporations.
