A man has been convicted of first-degree murder for the shooting death of his child’s mother. Prosecutors revealed that the motive behind the crime was the man’s false belief that the victim had given him a sexually transmitted disease (STD).

Keith Agee, 20, was sentenced to life in prison for the premeditated murder of Brooklyn Sims, an 18-year-old victim who tragically lost her life. The incident occurred on August 11 while Sims was working at a Home Depot in Pensacola, Florida. Keith was promptly arrested on the day of the shooting, and his mother, Sheila Agee, 50, was later apprehended and charged with murder for allegedly assisting in planning the crime.

Sheila Agee, who also worked at the Home Depot, allegedly played a role in coordinating the murder. Authorities claim that she texted Keith the store’s address on the day of the shooting. In a chilling text message exchange released by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Sheila allegedly wrote, “As long as you don’t shoot me.” This revelation has left the community in disbelief, struggling to comprehend how a mother could be involved in such a heinous act.

Keith’s motive for the murder was based on a false belief that Sims had given him an STD. However, after the verdict was read in Keith’s trial, the state presented evidence proving that Sims did not have an STD. Assistant State Attorney Bridgette Jensen, speaking in court, acknowledged that this revelation may seem inconsequential in the grand scheme of things but emphasized the importance of providing Sims with dignity.

“I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter, but we just wanted to give Miss Sims a little bit of dignity,” Assistant State Attorney Bridgette Jensen said in court, according to WKRG CBS.

Sheila Agee, who has pleaded not guilty, is still awaiting trial on charges of first-degree murder. The fact that a mother could allegedly be involved in the planning of such a crime has left the community shocked and struggling to comprehend the depths of this tragedy.

Meanwhile, the conviction of Keith Agee for the murder of Brooklyn Sims over a false belief of an STD has sent shockwaves through the community.

Sheriff Chip W. Simmons of Escambia County said in a statement about Keith’s actions and his mother’s alleged involvement in the crime. “The murder itself is unbelievable, but to know the mother knew about it and helped coordinate it is incomprehensible.”

The trial of Sheila Agee, Keith’s mother, will undoubtedly shed further light on the circumstances surrounding this shocking crime.
