The shooting occurred shortly before 2 a.m. when officials said there was “chaos” in an area of bars and restaurants near the State Capitol. Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports about “multiple victims” who were injured or killed during the shooting. However, no arrests have been made and police are unclear if one or more people were involved.

Several witness accounts claim someone pulled out a semi-automatic weapon and then started shooting into a crowd outside of the El Santo Restaurant & Ultralounge. The police did not confirm their statements.

“What we do know at this point is that another mass casualty shooting has occurred, leaving families with lost loved ones, multiple individuals injured, and a community in grief. The scourge of gun violence continues to be a crisis in our country, and we must resolve to bring an end to this carnage,”
