According to the New York Post, the unidentified officer from the Temple Terrace Police Department approached Heba Momtaz Al-Azhari,21, in a surveillance video moments before the shooting. The clip shows Al-Azhari reaching into her purse and lunging towards the officer with the large butcher knife in an attempt to stab him. She chases after him while another officer appears in the camera’s view and runs through the parking lot while he draws his weapon.

The officer fired several shots after telling Al-Azhari to drop her weapon. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died and the officer she tried to attack had no life-threatening injuries. Local reports say Al-Ahrazi was the sister of Muhammed Momtaz Al-Ahrazi, an ISIS supporter who was caught buying weapons and planned to carry out a mass shooting last week.
