As we shared earlier, LAPD officers were called to an impound lot in Hollywood on Monday afternoon (September 8). It’s reported that employees at Hollywood Tow, near Mansfield Avenue and Romaine Street, made the call to police. They reported a foul odor coming from inside of a car parked in their lot.

Upon arrival, police approached the vehicle with a strong stench. The car was described as a black 2023 Tesla with Texas license plates. Officers opened the front trunk of the Tesla and discovered a decomposing body stuffed inside of a bag.

On Monday, Los Angeles Police Captain Robert Peters told NBC News Los Angeles the car was reported abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for some time, reportedly about a month. The car received some citations and was eventually towed to the Hollywood Tow where it sat for two days before Monday’s big discovery.

Grammy Winning Singer D4vd ‘Cooperating’ With LAPD After Decomposing Body Found In His Impounded Tesla Trunk

Upon initial investigation, detectives linked the car back to an owner based out of Hempstead, Texas. His name listed as David Anthony Burke, better known as D4vd.

The 20-year-old Grammy Award-winning artist is best known for voicing viral songs like “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me.” The two songs alone have garnered billions of streams on Spotify, where he has more than 33 million monthly listeners.

Earlier this year, he released his second album, ‘WITHERED,’ solidifying his mark in the industry. Now, D4vd is on a worldwide tour and packing out venues, making this entire incident even more shocking. Tonight he performed at The Fillmore in Minneapolis, MN, with a Los Angeles, CA stop planned later this month.

Despite him being in the midst of his ‘WITHERED‘ world tour, D4vd is shifting some focus toward this investigation as he “fully cooperates” with the LAPD. A spokesperson for the singer told NBC News, “[He] has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities.”

Decomposing Body Found Inside Singer D4vd’s Impounded Tesla Trunk Confirmed As A Woman’s Remains

According to ABC Los Angeles, a medical examiner has confirmed that the remains found in D4vd’s impounded Tesla belong to a woman. Since she had been dead for some time, the LAPD will heavily rely on the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner Office to identify the victim and determine the cause of the death.

Additionally, the female victim was described as having wavy black hair, 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing 71 pounds. She was found wearing a tube top, black leggings, yellow metal bracelet, and metal stud earrings. She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that said, “Shhh…” Again, as she was “severely decomposed,” investigators have not yet determined her age, race or ethnicity.

Investigators are currently treating this case as a homicide for now. A senior LAPD source said it will take several days for the coroner to determine the manner of death.
