Singapore is taking extra measures to keep people safe by tagging travelers with tags to make sure they quarantine.

According to Reuters, as of August 11, the devices will be given to incoming travelers, including citizens and residents. These people will be allowed to isolate at home rather than at a state-appointed facility.

People going to Singapore must activate the device upon arrival. The device will emit GPS and Bluetooth signals, upon reaching their home and they have a set of rules that they must follow. If they try to leave their home, the police will be contacted.

Currently, under the Infectious Diseases Act, punishments can be fines of up to S$10,000 ($7,272) or imprisonment of up to six months. Singapore has reported 52,825 Coronavirus cases.

Hong Kong and South Korea have also opted for similar measures, back in March they introduced a procedure for incoming travelers to use a slim electronic wristband, similar to a tag worn by hospital patients, to enforce quarantines for arriving passengers.
