Simone Biles’ Brother Accused of Triple-Murder In Ohio

According to NBC, the brother of  olympic gymnast Simone Biles‘ has been charged with murder in connection with a shooting in which three people were killed and two others were injured on New Year’s Eve in Cleveland.

Tevin Biles-Thomas, 24, was arrested Thursday at Fort Stewart in Georgia for the fatal shooting that happened on Dec. 31 at an Airbnb rental property. A joint statement from the Cleveland Division of Police and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office explained that an “uninvited group” entered the house and “an altercation ensued” between them and the invited guests. The fight led to gunfire and as a result, Delvante Johnson, 19, Toshaun Banks, 21, and Devaughn Gibson, 23, were killed.

Biles-Thomas, who is reportedly on active duty with the Army, has been charged with six counts of murder, three counts of voluntary manslaughter, five counts of felonious assault along with one count of perjury, according to prosecutors and NBC.

“The investigators within the Cleveland Police Homicide Unit remained committed to securing an arrest in this tragic case,” Cleveland police Chief Calvin D. Williams said in a statement. “We appreciate our partnership with the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office and are confident that their efforts will bring justice for the families affected by this terrible incident.”

Reports say that Biles-Thomas is due for arraignment on Sept. 13. Simone Biles has not commented on her brother’s arrest.
