Silento Remains Behind Bars After Judge Denies Bond Request In Felony Murder Case Over His Mental Health

It’s reported that rapper Silento will remain behind bars in DeKalb County, GA after a judge denied his bail request in his felony murder case. In February, we shared that the “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” rapper was charged with felony murder for his alleged role in the death of his cousin, Frederick Rooks. In May, he and his attorneys requested for him to be released on $25,000 bond.

Now, a judge has denied his request to be let out, citing the rappers’s history of mental health issues, couple with the history of him not taking his prescribed medication and him denying his mental health issues — and the instance when he fled a mental health facility in California. Therefore, the judge ruled that it’s too risky to let him loose while his case pends.

Reportedly, prosecutors claimed his grandparents even sided with them in strong opposition of granting bond. Meanwhile, the rapper’s legal team acknowledges his mental health issues, claiming he has bipolar disorder and other issues that he’s battled for years. However, they counter that he’s also a local treasure in Atlanta, one has been recognized by the Governor for steering kids away from drugs and alcohol.
