Surveillance video captured the moment when 28-year-old Jose Nieto was shot 6 times after trying to stop a customer from sexually harassing a woman at the restaurant that he worked he at.

The mother of the man who was shot 6 times had an interview with Channel 2 Gwinnett County Bureau Chief Matt Johnson and said she’s hoping that the shooter turns himself in because she’s worried he might try to attack someone else. “We ask from our Christian beliefs that he turn himself in and have remorse for what he did,” his mother said to Johnson.

His mother also stated that her son has a long recovery ahead of him even after getting three surgeries the mother says he might have undergo one more surgery for his wrist. “The first thing he said when he woke up from the hospital and saw his family was I’m sorry I failed you,” Nieto’s mother said.

Unfortunately the man who shot him hasn’t been found yet and now the 28-year-old is out of work after working two jobs to support his family.

If the person who shot him asks for forgiveness, his mother told Johnson that he already has it.
