A shooting that took place outside of Nationals Park in Washigton D.C.caused fans to frantically exit out of the stadium during a Padres-Nationals game on Saturday evening.

Fans started exiting from the stadium after hearing gunshots nearby in the bottom of the sixth inning with the Padres in the lead at 8-4. According to CBS Sports, witnesses said they saw players running into the clubhouse and one of the players, Fernando Tatis, Jr grabbed his family and friends to bring them to safety.
To de-escalate the situation, the public announcer told fans to remain seated in the stadium and said the situation was being monitored.

Minutes after, Washington Nationals officials told fans to exit the stadium through the center field or right field gates. Two people were reportedly injured at the scene and were transported to a local hospital as told by the Washington D.C. police department.
The game will continue on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. EST.
