Shocking Bodycam Footage Shows Minneapolis Officer Fatally Shoot Amir Locke In No-knock Raid

Shocking bodycam footage captured the moment Amir Locke was killed by police during a no-knock raid.

His parents say he was “executed” after he reached for a weapon he legally owned to protect himself when Minneapolis police officers stormed into the apartment where he was sleeping.

Andre Locke revealed that his son was shocked to be awoken and felt he was in danger and just tried to protect himself.

“They didn’t even give him a chance,” said civil rights attorney Ben Crump. “We were just flabbergasted at the fact that a man was killed in this way.”

In police body camera footage, the cops open the door and then announce themselves.,”Police, search warrant, get on the ground, get on the f***ing ground,” Per Reuters, an officer kicks the couch Locke is sleeping on, and video shows him waking up out of the blanket holding a gun in his right hand, followed by Officer Mark Hanneman firing his weapon and hitting Locke twice in the chest and once on the wrist.

Interim Police Chief Amelia Huffman said that the officers were conducting a search prior to 7 am based on a search warrant, Locke was not mentioned on the warrant or related to the search.

“These events unfold in seconds, but the trauma is long-lasting,” Huffman added. “I’m under no illusion that processing this video will be easy. It won’t be, it shouldn’t be. These are wrenching videos to watch. They’re painful, but it’s necessary.”
