As we previously shared, the 39-year-old former Disney Channel star was arrested on February 17. He was charged with two counts of simple battery after engaging in a bar brawl while celebrating Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Louisiana.
At the time, an official with the New Orleans Police Department said LaBeouf was removed from a business on Royal Street. The officials added, “Once removed from the building, the victim reported being struck by LaBeouf, who used his closed fists on the victim several times.” The victim told officers that the actor initially walked away but then returned and acted “even more aggressively.”
Police allege he attacked another individual before other bar patrons restrained him. After taking LaBeouf into custody, police transported him to a hospital for treatment for unknown injuries. He was then formally arrested.

Shia LaBeouf Claims Three Gay Men Touched His Leg Before Getting Into New Orleans Mardi Gras Bar Brawl
During the February 28 episode of Andrew Callaghan’s ‘Channel 5’ show, LaBeouf opened up about his arrest and how it all started. LaBeouf told Callaghan, “I’ll be honest with you, big gay people are scary to me. When I’m like standing by myself and three gay dudes are next to me, touching my leg, I get scared. I’m sorry. If that’s homophobic, then I’m that. Yeah.”
LaBeouf said the incident “happened one time.” He added, “That’s why I got arrested.” He continued to share that his lawyer told him not to speak much and proceeded to release a blanket statement, sharing, “I am wrong for touching anyone. Ever. And that’s the end of my statement on this whole sh*t.”
LaBeouf later admitted that he has a Napoleon Complex. He shared his triggers like have his masculinity challenged, someone touching his girlfriend or his child. Speaking again on the LGBTQ+ community, he said, “I’m good with gay, [but] be gay over there, though. Don’t be gay in my lap.”

He continued to share that he takes an issue with anyone coming into his, or his loved one’s, personal space. He added, “It’s Mardi Gras. That’s why, bro. I was drunk and it was Mardi Gras. So, everything I’m saying is nonsense. It’s Mardi Gras, you know?” He continued to double down on not actually being homophobic, insisting, “I’ve never had no problem with gay people.”
