While speaking exclusively with @PageSix, Sherri Shepherd looked back at how far she’s come with her career, the good times, and even the bad.

The actress who used to co-host “The View,” but now has her own talk show, credited her jail time for her great success. She told the outlet, “I went to jail for not paying my tickets. At the time I did not think being in jail was a good moment, but looking back I learned to pay all my bills.”

“Jail, that was a classroom… it was a life lesson, and now I pay my bills on time.” She went on to explain that at the beginning of her career, she served eight days in the slammer back in the ’90s for owing $10,000 in unpaid moving violations. “One of the girls in jail said, ‘Leave Sherri alone because she’s gonna be somebody and we are going to be somebody and we are going to be here for the rest of our lives,’ literally that’s what she used to say,” the star shared.

She went on to say, “Her name was Shelby and she came to both my weddings when I got out. But sometimes people see things in you that you don’t see yourself, and when she said those words, ‘Sherri is gonna be somebody,’ I never thought that for myself. So I just knew that something was going to happen.”

“I dreamed about it. When I did my first talk show pilot in 2018, I’ve never stopped dreaming about it. And so when it gets too much, I sit and I thank God for everything, and it brings me back to that place of peace. This is what I know I wanted to do.”

As for her daily goal for the show, Sherri said at the time, “My mission is I want you to feel better than when you came.”
