Sheriff’s Deputy Sentenced To Just Six Months For Having Sex With Young Boy

A Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy has been sentenced for having sex with a teen boy.

What could be more shocking than a deputy committing a crime? The fact that she will only be serving six months in jail, with five years probation.

According to KCRA, Shauna Bishop, 44, will also have to register as a sex offender after turning herself in back in June 2019 after the boy’s parent filed a report upon discovering their relationship.

Police began looking into her relationship with the child in May of 2019 and police later issued a warrant for her arrest. She had been placed on paid leave during the investigation and resigned in August 2019 following her arrest. She pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor in July. Her other four charges were dismissed.

Bishop was a five-year veteran of the sheriff’s office In California. It is not clear how her relationship with the teen started, but apparently she did not meet the teen through her job, or have sex with him while at work. Officials said the crime was not linked to her duties as an officer.
