Sex Trafficking Victim Convicted Of Killing Her Pimp Granted Clemency

A sex trafficking victim who was convicted of killing her pimp at the age of 15, was granted clemency by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

PEOPLE reports 22-year-old Alexis Martin, a sex trafficking victim who was recently spotlighted on Kim Kardashian West’s criminal justice show “The Justice Project, was granted clemency along with six other prisoners. The announcement was made during Gov.DeWine’s press conference on Friday.

“The facts of her case are particularly, particularly unique.”

Martin endured sexual assault and sex trafficking under her pimp, Angelo Kerney, and was convicted of first-degree murder and robbery charges in 2013. She was 15 at the time of her convicted and one of the seven people involved in the fatal shooting of Kerney.

She was sentenced at 17 to serve 21 years in prison. Part of Martin’s release requirements is to live in a group home for now.
