According to The Hill, The University of Tampa said Saturday that five of its students who traveled together during their spring break recently tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The tweet said, “UT has been notified that five UT students, traveling together and with other UT students during Spring Break, have tested positive for COVID-19.” Although the school did not disclose the names of the students, nor where they traveled during the break, which was earlier this month, the university added that it “sincerely” wishes the students and others “who may be affected, a full and rapid recovery.”
Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Times reports that The University of South Florida St. Petersburg and the University of Florida reportedly made similar announcements on Sunday.
As we previously reported, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) urged students celebrating spring break in the state to adhere to social distancing guidelines from health experts as local officials continue to work towards preventing the spread of the virus.
