Several Boats Sink During ‘Trump Boat Parade’ in Texas

A little parade in Texas apparently ended in disaster after several boats sank during the event.

According to ABC News affiliate KVUE, the sheriff’s department in Austin, Texas, said at least five boats sank during a boat parade in support of President Trump on Lake Travis on Saturday afternoon. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office responded to a total of 15 distress calls which varied and included: boats taking on water, stalled engines, capsized boats, and boats sinking.

According to the news site, TCSO said as of Sunday, three boats have been towed out of the water and two remain submerged.

The Sheriff explained that the large number of boats moving together produced large waves, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

“It was like an ocean out there. I’m surprised I survived it. We didn’t make it all the way around the parade, because it was just too much,” Danielle Severn told CNN affiliate KXAN. “The boats were mainly just teeter-tot-erring. A lot of them took on water by the nose. After that it was over, especially for the smaller boats.”
