Sen. Ted Cruz Trying To Make His Way Back To Texas After Receiving Backlash For Trip To Cancun Amid Winter Storm
#Socialites, get a load of this: While millions in Ted Cruz’s state are suffering from the historic winter storm, the Texas Senator decided to take a flight to Cancun with his family!
Photos posted by multiple news outlets this Thursday showed the Republican Senator hanging out in the United Club lounge and boarding a flight to Mexico with his family. He instantly faced tons of criticism from residents in Texas, officials, celebrities, and public figures; with many labeling him “cruel, ” and “selfish,“ for going someplace warm while people are freezing to death, others without power, and trying their best to get through the bad weather.
So does Cruz feel any type of way? Well, according to TMZ, it looks like the heat is getting to him because he’s reportedly trying to make his way back to Texas! Jake Sherman from Punchbowl is reporting Cruz is now on standby at the airport in Cancun trying to get an upgrade on a flight back to Houston… just hours after he landed.
The Texas Democratic Party has now called on Cruz to resign over the incident. Party Chairman Gilberto Hinojosa called Cruz and “enemy“ for “abandoning” their state.
“Ted Cruz jetting off to Mexico while Texans remain dying in the cold isn’t surprising but it is deeply disturbing and disappointing,” Hinojosa said. “Cruz is emblematic of what the Texas Republican Party and its leaders have become: weak, corrupt, inept, and self-serving politicians who don’t give a damn about the people they were elected to represent. They were elected by the people but have no interest or intent of doing their jobs.”
