While hosting a rally for re-election in Butler, PA, Donald Trump was quickly escorted off of a stage by Secret Service agents after several loud pops sounded off around 6:13 p.m. The noises were initially presumed to be gunshots by witnesses.

As soon as the sounds went off, Donald Trump hit the ground and was immediately surrounded by agents, who then rushed him off the stage and escorted him to a motorcade to quickly flee the scene. In the middle of all of the chaos, the former president was also seen pumping his fist at the crowd as he was picked up off of the stage floor and shuffled off.

When the “loud noises” first erupted, viewers could see Trump’s right hand rush to clutch his right ear as if he had been hit. While fist pumping, cameras zoomed in and viewers could see Donald Trump with blood leaking from his ear, which was smeared across the right side of his face.

After the initial reports, the Associated Press confirmed there was indeed a shooting at Donald Trump’s rally and that he was doing “fine” after leaving the stage with a bloody ear. According to Representative Dan Meuser, who was near Trump at the rally, there were 8 to 10 gunshots that rung out. Meuser said that other attendees in the crowd may have been hit by what sounded like a .22 or small caliber weapon.

AP also reported that Butler County district attorney Richard Goldinger told them in a phone interview that the suspected gunman was dead, and at least one rally attendee was killed during the shooting at Donald Trump’s Pennsylvania rally.

Jake M. Rosen, a CBS News correspondent, also reported that an emergency room doctor attempted to save another victim in the Donald Trump rally shooting. The man, who claimed to be “an emergency department physician,” said he heard the shots ring out and then heard someone in the crowd screaming that a man had been shot. So, he rushed over, told them he was a doctor, and attempted CPR and chest compressions. The doctor said the man had been shot on the left side of his head, and that he was losing lots of blood with brain matter all over.
