A primary school is asking its male students to wear skirts to class as part of its educational campaign to promote equality.

An email was issued to parents from Castleview Primary in Edinburgh where it said officials want the school to be more inclusive. Additionally, parents were told that the boys, as young as 3, could wear leggings or pants underneath their skirts for comfort throughout the school day. However, it is not mandatory for students to participate in the activity.
‘We’re keen to spread the message that clothes don’t have a gender and that we should all be free to express ourselves as we choose.’
The concept was created by sixth-grade students after learning that a similar idea was created at a school in Spain after students and teachers wore skirts to support a male student who was expelled for wearing one last year.

Some parents at the school opposed the idea and said children should be able to make decisions on their own. Other parents also supported the school’s effort to enforce equality.
My son goes to this school and decided he wanted to wear a skirt in support. These kids should be praised not frowned on. I can’t believe the vile single minded comments that some people have made. These kids and the school are amazing and cover lots of topics.

Or here’s a radical idea….get rid of school uniforms and let kids express themselves and wear whatever they feel comfortable in.

I would also add, all these parents are fine with “show racism the red card” etc but not gender equality and breaking down stereotypes they themselves have put on their kids……poor kids of they ever feel they are different and are persecuted in the way they school are today
