School Board Member In Florida Receives Backlash After Taking Elementary School Students To Gay Bar For Field Trip
A school board member in Florida is receiving major backlash after saying she was “honored” to take a group of elementary school students on a field trip to a gay bar.
Broward County School Board member Sarah Leonardi started she took a group of children from Wilton Manors Elementary School to Rosie’s Bar & Grill on what she referred to as an annual field trip, according to a Wednesday social media post by Leonardi.
“I was SO honored to be invited to chaperone Wilton Manors Elementary’s field trip to the incredible Rosie’s!” she shared to Facebook with pictures. “The students and I had a fun walk over and learned a lot about our community! A huge thank you to Rosie’s Bar and Grill for hosting this special field trip every year!”
Out of respect for the underage children, the photos were taken down. But sources say the children were seen taking photos at the bar and taking pictures posing with the restaurant’s sign.
Rosie’s bar and grill is known for its tropical oasis in an Island city. “amazing food and refreshing drinks and sassy fun,” according to their website.
“Whether you come for lunch or dinner, for Sunday Funday Brunch or for just a few drinks … whether you are LBGTQ+ or an ally … whether you are local or visiting … whether you come with a group or venture out solo … you will have a memorable experience with the most talented crew in South Florida,” the website read. “See you soon!”
The Washington Examiner attempted to get a response from Broward County Public School Board and Sarah Leonardi for comments but did not receive an answer from either party.
Are you kidding me?! Once the schools began assisting students with condoms and being super accepting of a life choices re: same sex relationships I knew they were taking control away from the parents but photos of teachers getting lap dances from students? And a field to a gay bar? What the hell is happening in this country? Explain to the parent how you as educators can this behavior?! It’s disgusting! And I thank God my Son was raised with open mindedness, kindness, respect for others as well as himself. If I were a parent in your district you would have a lot more to worry about and I would be damn sure to shut your doors down. And maybe even kick a little ass too! Leave the parenting to the parents!!!
