In a recent interview with ET, Jennifer Lopez dropped a bombshell by revealing that her upcoming album, “This Is Me… Now,” might be her very last.
After pouring her heart and soul into the project, the multi-talented artist expressed uncertainty about her future in the music industry. As fans eagerly await the release of her ninth studio album, Lopez’s contemplation of retirement has sparked curiosity and speculation.
Lopez’s dedication to her newest album is evident as she discusses the effort put into creating a unique experience for her fans. With multiple album covers and collector’s items, she aims to make “This Is Me… Now” a quintessential Jennifer Lopez project. “We did a bunch of different album covers,” she explained of This Is Me… Now, which drops this Friday, Feb. 16. “We try to do stuff that’s very special for the fans and do collector’s items and things like that that they can have forever and ever. The truth is I don’t even know if I’ll ever make another album after this. It’s such the kind of quintessential kind of Jennifer Lopez J.Lo project and I really feel very fulfilled, so they really will be collector’s items at a certain point.” She jokingly added, “Don’t tell Benny [Medina] that that’s what I’m thinking — this might be my last album ever.”

An Era Comes to an End:
“This Is Me… Now” marks a significant milestone for Lopez, as it arrives 22 years after her third studio album, “This Is Me… Then.” The release of her latest album coincides with the beginning of a new chapter in her life, as she recently tied the knot with Ben Affleck.
Lopez describes the album as the end of an era for her, signifying a transition into something new and exciting. While she doesn’t completely rule out the possibility of future albums, she emphasizes the immense effort and dedication she invested in “This Is Me… Now.”
“I feel like it’s the end of a kind of an era for me and the beginning of a new one, so I would never say never, but right now I feel like I really put my heart and soul into this and I’m very excited and it definitely took a lot out of me.”
Expanding Horizons:
In addition to the album, Lopez is set to star in a musical film titled “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story,” which will be released on Prime Video. She also told the outlet,
“I was very inspired to make the music at this point in my life with all of the amazing things that have happened to me in the past couple of years and once the music was done, I thought, OK, this is very special. I want to do something special. I don’t want to just take the normal route and so, I created this cinematic experience and that kind of was just born from being in the studio and realizing that the music, although it told a beautiful story, it didn’t tell the whole story,” she said. “I sat with Dave Meyers, who directed it, and I I said, you know, this is what happened. This is where I’m at in my life. This is what I want to say. This is what I want to share. This is what I’ve learned and I want to put that into this artistic piece and he was like, ‘Let’s do it. Let’s go,’ and he really elevated it to a level that I could’ve never imagined. It’s quite moving and beautiful, so I’m excited.”
